I have been waiting for years to plan a nursery. It’s something I’ve been excited to do since we moved into our condo five years ago and getting to paint, prep, and buy furniture for this room has made me so happy!
It’s also been a lovely pandemic distraction. The only bummer is have to do all my shopping online, which I hate and am not really good at. And deliveries are often delayed and furniture frequently goes out of stock. But if this is seriously my biggest complaint I’m one lucky girl and know it.
For the nursery I first considered a full on Beatrix Potter theme like my shower, but decided against it because it was “too themed” if that makes any sense. I have a few bits of Beatrix Potter in there but didn’t want to go crazy. Instead I’m gravitating to cool crisp whites, warmed up by neutrals with pops of blue and green. I find baby things incredibly busy and overly colorful so leaning towards the whites and minimal design is how I’m keeping things calmer.
Inspiration
Below is some of the nursery inspiration I’ve gathered from Pinterest!
What We’ve Got So Far
So far we have the big ticket items. A crib, dresser, chair, and bassinet. I’ve gotten a few more odds and ends that have caught my eye like this changing basket, this mirror, and this rattan shelf. Everything else we’ll piece together overtime since I want to see how the furniture looks in the room first.
My favorites so far are the bassinet and changing basket – they’re just so pretty!
Stay tuned for the finish product – we’re taking our time and the finishing touches probably won’t be done until after the baby’s here but that’s okay. Slow and steady!
